Washington's Army Encamps at Morristown
Following his victories at Trenton and Princeton, George Washington led his exhausted Continental Army to winter quarters at Morristown. The encampment allowed the army to recover while threatening British supply lines throughout New Jersey.
The Morristown encampment kept the Revolution alive through winter and forced the British to abandon much of New Jersey.
