Alexander the Great Dies at Age 32
Alexander III of Macedon died in the palace of Nebuchadnezzar II in Babylon after a ten-day illness, possibly caused by typhoid fever complicated by heavy drinking. He had conquered an empire stretching from Greece to India and never lost a battle.
Alexander's death triggered the Wars of the Diadochi as his generals fought to divide his empire, creating the Hellenistic world that shaped Mediterranean civilization for three centuries.
