Spain Captures Minorca from Britain
Spanish forces completed their conquest of the island of Minorca after a six-month siege of Fort St. Philip, forcing the British garrison to surrender. Britain had held the island for most of the 18th century as a key Mediterranean base.
The loss of Minorca reflected Britain's strategic overextension during the American Revolutionary War and strengthened Spain's position in the peace negotiations.

Spanish victory β Minorca returned to Spain
