Battle of Gettysburg — Day 2: Little Round Top

The second day of Gettysburg featured Confederate assaults on both Union flanks — Devil's Den, the Peach Orchard, and Little Round Top, where a bayonet charge by the 20th Maine under Joshua Chamberlain repelled the Confederate attack that might have turned the Union line.

The holding of Little Round Top preserved the Union position and set up the failed Pickett's Charge on Day 3, making Day 2 arguably the decisive day of the battle.
