Korean War Armistice Signed
Military commanders from the United Nations Command and North Korea signed an armistice ending three years of fighting, establishing a demilitarized zone (DMZ) near the 38th Parallel. No peace treaty was ever signed.
The armistice froze the Korean peninsula in a permanent state of technical war that continues today; North and South Korea remain technically at war despite 70+ years of ceasefire.
Outcome
Fighting stops; Korea remains divided; no peace treaty signed
