A large Ming-Korean army assaulted Shimazu Yoshihiro's fortress at Sacheon. A gunpowder explosion in the allied lines threw them into confusion and Shimazu counter-attacked out of the gate and routed them. His men took thousands of noses as trophies.
Shimazu's tactical masterpiece and the last significant Japanese victory of the war, won six weeks after Hideyoshi had already died in Kyoto — the invasion was over and nobody in Korea had been told. The noses taken here went to the Mimizuka, the 'ear mound,' in Kyoto, where tens of thousands of Korean noses were buried under a monument that still stands.

The Ottoman Empire signed the Armistice of Mudros aboard HMS Agamemnon, ending its participation in WWI. Allied forces would occupy Constantinople and partition the empire over the following years.
The Mudros armistice ended 600 years of Ottoman power and began the process that created modern Turkey under Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
