Vandals Sack Rome
Vandal King Gaiseric led his forces into Rome and sacked the city for 14 days, stripping its treasures and taking thousands of Romans into slavery. Unlike Alaric's Visigoths in 410, the Vandals looted systematically and without significant massacre.
The Vandal sack gave the modern word 'vandalism' its meaning and accelerated the collapse of the Western Roman Empire, which fell 21 years later.
