Hooker turns the river line
Hooker sends major columns upstream across the Rappahannock and Rapidan while Sedgwick crosses below Fredericksburg. V, XI, and XII Corps converge at the Chancellorsville crossroads, placing a large Union force beyond Lee's prepared front.
WHAT TO NOTICEThe opening maneuver works: Union columns concentrate west of Lee while Sedgwick keeps a second threat alive at Fredericksburg.
