September 14–19, 1965 · Sialkot sector, Pakistan Theater
September 14–19, 1965
In the Sialkot sector, India launched its own great armoured offensive toward Chawinda, colliding with Pakistan's armour in one of the largest tank battles since the Second World War — hundreds of tanks manoeuvring across the Punjab plain. The Pakistani defence held, and the Indian thrust was fought to a costly standstill amid heavy losses on both sides.
