The Siege of Xiapi

199 AD · Xu Province (modern Jiangsu) Theater

Lü Bu executed; his forces absorbed into Cao Cao's army. Cao Cao became the dominant warlord of northern China.

199 AD

The fearsome warrior Lü Bu, who had betrayed and murdered two successive patrons and seized Xu Province from Liu Bei, was finally cornered at Xiapi by Cao Cao's army. When Lü Bu's own officers mutinied and bound him, Cao Cao had him strangled at the White Gate Tower. Liu Bei, who had allied with Cao Cao for this campaign, advised executing Lü Bu — reminding Cao Cao how Lü Bu had betrayed every lord he served.
