The Fall of Eastern Wu — Jin Reunification

280 AD · Yangtze River and Wu territories (modern Jiangsu) Theater

China reunified under the Jin dynasty. Sun Hao surrendered and was given a nominal title. The Three Kingdoms era ended after 96 years of division.

280 AD

After the Sima family had usurped the Cao Wei throne in 265 to found the Jin dynasty, Emperor Wu of Jin launched a six-pronged invasion of Wu. A massive fleet sailed down the Yangtze while armies attacked from multiple directions. Wu's last emperor, the notorious tyrant Sun Hao, had alienated his generals and terrorized his people. Resistance collapsed everywhere. Sun Hao surrendered at Jianye (modern Nanjing), ending nearly a century of division.
