Donald Trump

President of the United States

Born: June 14, 1946 · Queens, New York City, New York
Died: ·
Education: B.S. in Economics, Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania
Pre-war: Real estate developer; television personality; 45th President of the United States (2017–2021)
"America does not seek conflict. But we will not allow a terrorist state to acquire a nuclear weapon."

Biography

In his second term, Trump returned to the 'maximum pressure' Iran policy he began in 2018, but escalated to direct military action when intelligence indicated Iran was weeks from weaponization. Trump had long argued the Obama-era JCPOA was a catastrophic deal; he withdrew from it in 2018. His decision to strike Iran's nuclear facilities directly — rather than authorizing Israel to act alone — was the most significant US use of force in the Middle East since the 2003 Iraq invasion. He framed the action as definitively preventing a nuclear-armed Iran from threatening Israel and regional stability.

Did you know?

He became the first US president since FDR to serve non-consecutive terms, returning to office in January 2025 — and within six months ordered the largest US military strike against a sovereign nation in two decades.

Key Battles

Strike on Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant

United States victory

June 22, 2025 · 200 total casualties

Fordow housed thousands of advanced IR-6 centrifuges enriching uranium to near-weapons-grade levels. Its depth made it the hardest target on Iran's nuclear map. Whether the strikes destroyed the facility or merely its top levels became the central post-strike intelligence debate, with implications for whether further strikes would be needed.

Strike on Natanz Nuclear Complex

United States victory

June 22, 2025 · 150 total casualties

Natanz had been sabotaged twice before — by the Stuxnet computer worm (2010) and by a physical explosion attributed to Israeli intelligence (2021). A direct US military strike was categorically different in scale and international consequence. Iran's entire centrifuge inventory was concentrated here.

Strike on Isfahan Nuclear Research Center

United States victory

June 22, 2025 · 80 total casualties

Isfahan represented the upstream end of Iran's nuclear supply chain. Destroying conversion capacity alongside enrichment facilities was intended to prevent rapid reconstitution — the lesson of previous, more limited strikes on Iran's program.
